The best Italian restaurant in the Twin Cities is in this Lilydale subdivision. Chef Filippo Caffari regularly performs magic with homemade salumi (his guanciale is awesome). Select from one of the best Italian wine lists in the country, phenomenally authentic pastas, superb first courses such as beef carpaccio or calamari fritti, and the best osso buco in town.

I Nonni Osteria alla Romana is a small, family run italian restaurant focusing on the cuisine and wine of Italy's central "heart"; the regions of Lazio (Roma) and Abruzzo. We offer a seasonal menu made up of classic and innovative antipasti, pasta, entrees, artisan cheeses and house-made desserts. Our Cucina is truly a scratch kitchen with many of our pastas being made fresh daily such as gnocchi, ravioli and tagliatelle. All of our butchering is done in-house and only local, responsibly raised meat and fowl are used. Seafood here is a specialty and only the freshest, seasonal catches are offered. Our style of cuisine leans toward real, authentic preparations of true Roman and regional Italian dishes that may include sweetbreads, veal osso buco, roasted leg of Lamb, braised rabbit, wild boar, baccala and house-made sausages.

Our beverage program has been recognized nationally as one of the very best destinations for Italian wine lovers. With over 500 selections of rare and unique bottlings from all over Italy with a special attention to Barolo offering over 100 selections from vintages from 1961 to 2001. Our bar is stocked with fine grappas and other great Italian spirits such as amaro, sambuca, anice, fruit distillates and house-made limoncello.

We offer dining in our dining room, bar, patio and private, custom dining is available in our wine cellar for groups of up to 40 guests. Voted best Italian dining in Minnesota four consecutive years by Mpls/St.Paul magazine.(2002-2006)
