Times Bar & Café

This is where the name-calling started. Before the lofts and the shopping and Panera and NeHe and Near Northeast or whatever the hell they're calling it these days, the Times and Jitters moved lock, stock, and barrel from downtown Minneapolis to—well, across the river—and became the entertainment anchor in the neighborhood. The Times is still the most sophisticated fondue joint—with deep green carpeting and dark wood accents—that's ever existed, plus it offers live cabaret, jazz, Latin dance, and Dixieland acts nightly. Jitters, downstairs in the "grotto," is all metallic shine and edge—the perfect showcase for the weirdest and most delicious martini menu in the city, as well as DJ music, funk, R & B, cabaret, and comedy.
